PROJECT MANAGEMENT
I am continually surprised at the number of multi million rand homes
being constructed with no form of project management & in
many cases , no detailed electrical layout.
The fighting and unhappiness that is brought on by inferior workmanship
are stories told by so many new home owners. In many cases problems
on site occur due to miscommunication and pressure to complete the
job. Contrary to popular belief the subcontractors on site do not
get issued with crystal balls when they complete their apprenticeship,
so they have no way of knowing that your kitchen design has changed,
or you have opted for under-floor heating throughout, or that you
saw heated towel rails at your friends house over the weekend and
have already ordered six. He has no idea that you have a borehole
and pressure pump and that it must be connected to the irrigation
system. He has not met your son or your daughter so has not thought
about TV reticulation, play-stations, I pods, distributed audio and
so the list carries on.
I have seen houses that are up to roof height & the electrical
contractor does not even have an electrical layout !
By the time you as the homeowner have gotten close to your dream
it has cost you double what was originally quoted and the added stress
is just a bonus.
