STATE OF THE ART SECURITY INSTALLATIONS

Thornton Group were awarded the contract to secure a large manufacturing facility South of Johannesburg

To date the largest alarm installation performed by Thornton Group.

This complete solution was discussed in minute detail with the management team. The challenges were made more difficult just by the sheer size and height of the warehouse and manufacturing facility

Included in this installation a total of 71 passive infrared motion sensors (interior, exterior & 360 degree sensors) and 2 touch sense LCD keypads and about 6km of cable.

Alarm modules had to be properly, distributedthroughout the factory to eliminate possible issues regarding voltage drops on long cable runs.

We installed 6 alarm expansion panels throughout the factory housing a total of 12 x 8 zone expansion modules, all connected back to the main alarm panel which was housed safely in the locked server room.Each expansion panel had its own power supply and battery backup.

The client required 6 smoke sensors in the factory, which were connected back to the alarm panel. These smoke sensors trigger a panic signal to the armed response in the event of a fire.

For redundancy purposes, multiple bus isolators have been installed so that in event that there is a fault, or failure on one leg of the bus cable, the other bus cables will continue to operate independently.

13hard-wired door contacts have been installed throughout the factory on both large sliding doors and standard interior doors
The alarm panel has been programmed so that the factory issplit into 6 independent partitions allowing individual control, when arming and disarming of each individual partition.

A GSM communication module with an in built voice dialer was installed to allow remote arming and disarming of partitions via cell phone as well as sms and voice call notification in the event of an alarm, power failure, system being armed or disarmed or any alarm panel trouble condition.

Wireless door contacts were also a requirement for free standing containers that were not part of the actual building,  we connected a wireless expansion module to the alarm system and programmed in 6 wireless door contacts.

Remote access has also been integrated so that the client is be able to sit at home and monitor his alarm system via PC, including each zones state, also arming, disarming, bypassing zones and force arming the alarm system.

Not only have we successfully met all our clients objectives we are extremely proud of our installation both in appearance and functionality
